Barbara Peterson - Executive Director/Headmistress, teacher of English and Social Studies:
Barbara has a Ph.D. in Education in the area of curriculum theory and development from the University of New Hampshire. She has been a NH certified educator since 1992 and has taught at the secondary school level for 11 years, the elementary school level for 4 years, and the college level for 5 years. She also founded cdslServices—a local successful educational center where she worked with students from grades K-12 developing home-school curricula, providing individual and small group tutoring services, and teaching enrichment courses in the subjects of Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, and Philosophy. Her particular strength in teaching is in providing a highly rigorous yet motivating and fun learning environment where she works with the unique needs, interests and talents of each student to help them improve in areas of weakness and achieve to levels they previously thought unreachable. In addition to her teaching experience, Barbara is a published scholar and continues to develop and expand her knowledge of educational theory and practice.
Louis Datilio – Teacher of Mathematics and Science:
Lou’s accomplishments as an Olympic caliber gymnast earned him a full scholarship to the University of Iowa where he graduated with a B.S. degree in mathematics and earned 40 graduate credits toward a Masters degree in solid state physics. He returned to NH in 2002 to be head coach and program director of the New Hampshire Academy of Artistic Gymnastics where he continues to prove his abilities in working with kids to get them to achieve to very impressive levels through teaching and coaching.
Margot Simonds – Science Teacher:
Margot has taught for over 10 years, primarily at the middle school levels. Her vast amount of experience is from the York Middle school in York, Maine where she teaches 5th grade as a certified teacher. Her particular strength in the classroom is her ability to connect with each and every one of her students in a manner that enables them to recognize their strengths and weaknesses and feel safe in taking educational risks so they may grow and flourish as learners.
Scott Alexander – Middle Science Teacher: Scott graduated from Syracuse University with a BA degree. He is currently the owner and manager of A&M Paint where he has put a great deal of work into studying and understanding the chemistry of paint and paint related products. In addition, he worked with students in grades K-8 in the area of earth science and astronomy, taught courses to middle school students in earth science, and taught mini-courses in meteorology and in space science for cdslServices LLC, a company that worked with homeschooled students looking to enhance their curriculum through enrichment courses.
Michele Jaron-Tingley – French Teacher:
Michele has taught French classes to students at both Sanborn and Pollard schools. She has also worked with homeschooled students, teaching French to students of all levels including preparing students for the French SATs. In addition to her teaching, Michele worked for the United Nations in New York city as a Bilingual Administrative Assistant to the Diplomat of Belgium where she translated communications from French to English and English to French for the Diplomat and the European Economic Community. She graduated from Ecole Moderne de Commerce et de Langues, Lausanne, Switzerland where she earned her Bi-lingual diploma (English/French) with German for a minor.
